It finally “feels” like hunting season. Wow. I mean Brrr!

This first nice cold front of the season lazily passed through the hill country, leaving us with more rain (thank you) and a hint of what is ahead (cold weather). Deer season in Texas opens up in less than a month.

In the coming weeks, we’ll have the video camera with us as we make the ’rounds on the ranch and will try and post some clips of video as we get them.

With each day, the wildlife seems to get a bit more frisky. Lately, the cool mornings have the whitetails moving a lot more. Take a look at some of the deer we’ll be hunting in the coming months.

In particular, take a gander at the magnificent 6 pointer. “So what” you say! Well, he’s about as good of a 6 pointer as we’ve seen at Stone Ledge in a long time.

Now’s the time to get on the schedule for 2011. The 2011 calender is pretty open at this point.

Here is a big 6 pointer we saw for the first time in July (with his buddy; a nice 10 pointer).

And here they are again. I told you he’s a nice 6 point! And what do you think of this 10 pointer? And he’s just a 3 year old!

And here’s another look at the same big 10 point in late August. This is one nice buck. Again, he’s only 3 years old! Oh yea, and yet another look at the Big 6.

Gobble. Gobble. The turkeys are making a nice comeback and we’re seeing flocks of young birds like these nearly every day.

The temperature dropped more than 20 degrees this afternoon in less than an hour and we got some nice rain. Just before the rain began, the deer really started to move. Here are a couple of video clips that got me excited!
